Whatever your requirement, project management helps harness the potential of web design and development and keeps everything running to plan. This is an especially useful service if you simply do not have the time to spend managing web designers and developers yourself to make sure they deliver what you need. Most designers and developers just want to get on with the job in hand, and this is where an intermediary is a valuable resource.
Our work involves discussing your site objectives with you, working through the discovery phase of what is needed, and reflecting this in a detailed specification from which the site is developed. We can supply a web team or work with an in-house team if you have one.
Example
We were brought in to project-manage six new websites for housing association group Hyde, working alongside its in-house web development team.
Hyde is one of the largest housing association groups in the UK, with some 120,000 residents across London, Kent, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough. It wanted to deliver a local residents’ site for each region and subsidiary – something never done before. It also needed a corporate site that truly reflected the progressive nature of the organisation.
Our work included agreeing interaction design, deciding design for the sites, running consultations with residents to find out what they wanted, writing and editing all content and making sure the project was delivered on time. We also ensured accessibility standards were met, helped by features including translatable text and speech-enabled pages.
Following the success of this project we were asked to project manage the development of online message boards for residents. We wrote the brief and all content for the project, which enabled residents as far apart as Peterborough and Southampton to communicate with each other. We have also project managed a website and intranet for the Hampshire Alliance for Rural Affordable Housing.
